Final Four
The Colonel is the last remaining highly-illustrative logo, and he's good enough to dispatch of Villanova's iconic V. The Colonel may have been designed in this modern era of desktop publishing, but it's got legs enough (metaphorically) to stick around. This is because it doesn't try too hard to look three-dimensional, and if you had to reproduce it as a one-color logo, you could. It's fun enough to appeal to the masses and stern enough to not be mocked.
Winner: Eastern Kentucky
It's the best of the single-letter logos vs the best of the iconic beasts. How does one choose between such aesthetically pleasing logos? The committee says that Arizona gets the edge. It was created in 1990, but it looks like it could have been designed in 1966 or 2078. For as iconic as the Texas logo has become, it feels just a hair more dated than the Arizona logo. Speaking of hairs, we're really splitting them now.
